For over 20 years, Lily Mei and her family have proudly called Fremont home. A parent of two current students who are both products of Fremont public schools, Lily is honored to live in and serve our city. Lily has been a consistent leader standing up for the issues that matter the most to our city’s residents.

Lily is currently the Vice Mayor of Fremont and a City Councilmember, where she has been a vocal advocate for the people of this city, especially on issues where others have remained silent. A voice who isn’t in the pockets of developers, Lily is passionate about improving our schools, reducing traffic, and keeping our streets safe.

Lily has never shied away from a tough battle. She passionately believes that a mayor should accurately represent our city. That is why Lily has always been there for Fremont. Lily regularly travels to Sacramento with local groups, fighting for legislation that benefits the people of Fremont. She was a vocal warrior in preserving Kimber Park and open space in Fremont. In addition, Lily is a consistent presence at local chamber meetings and community events.

Always passionate about ensuring a quality education for our children, Lily got her start serving as the PTA president at Gomes Elementary. Determined to make a difference, she was twice elected to serve as a Fremont Unified School Board Trustee, which included stints as President and Vice President of the Board. Lily has served on the FUSD Pupil Overload Task Force, as a Fremont Council PTA School Board Liaison, and demanded that developers pay their fair share on the FUSD Ad Hoc Budget Task Force Committee.

Lily was also the President of the Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association (APISBMA) for California. During her tenure, Lily worked to ensure APISBMA’s active participation on CSBA’s Council of Presidents, leading the charge to foster diversity and enrich their partnership with ethnic school board member associations statewide. She was also elected by surrounding local school districts to two terms as a Delegate Assembly member for Region 7 which represents Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Here in Fremont, Lily embraces the many diverse recreational and cultural efforts. She has been a volunteer and leader supporting local scouting and sports programs including soccer, Little League, and swim teams. Lily is a board member/advisor to Citizens for Better Community, Music for Minors II, and the South Bay Chinese Service Club. She has also been a dedicated supporter involved with community groups such as the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, FAME, Fremont Education Coalition, Fremont Youth and Family Services, ABODE, SAVE, and the American Association of University Women.

Prior to her time in public service, Lily managed a worldwide high-technology trade association chairing global events and developing best practices partnering with leading international entities. Her work experience includes over 20 years in various finance, channel marketing, strategic planning and sales operation roles.

After over two decades in Fremont, Lily knows this city. But above all, she cares. Time and time again, Lily has proven to be a trusted advocate who has stood up for Fremont. Lily is the battle-tested leader that Fremont citizens need and can count on.
